Writing Through Literature

Writing Through Literature is designed to prepare eighth-grade students to write academic essays in high school and college. The yearlong course emphasizes writing a strong thesis statement and using it as a roadmap for writing a well-structured essay with an introduction, body, and conclusion. Essay topics, class discussions, and vocabulary words will come from the literature students read for class. Grammar lessons are a part of the weekly class time.
